Dr. Bará is launching his "New Concept" intensive animal health and production consultancy, based entirely on a Health, Reproduction and Productivity Solutions program (HRPS).

The HRPS (Health, Reproduction and Productivity Solutions) program is a systematic approach to your business which focuses in areas of great importance for the profitability of your business.

The Health, Reproduction and Productivity Solutions program includes:

       •  Health programs based on preventive medicine and/or specific health programs designed to eradicate or bring disease to a complete control using the least amount of antimicrobials. Thus, reducing your cost of production and increasing profit margin. These services include:
                •  Review of past and current herd health.
                •  Review current level of protection.
                •  Pig health monitoring carried out at the abattoir.
                •  Routine herd health visits or a one off consulting in conjunction with                     your veterinarian.

                •  Establishment of SPF piggeries.

The key elements examined in this area are conception rate, farrowing rate and number of born alive per litter. This service also include:
                •  Evaluation of oestrus detection techniques.
                •  Evaluation of mating and/or AI techniques.
                •  Oestrus induction and synchronisation techniques.
                •  Semen evaluation.
                •  Production planning.
                •  Evaluation of hygiene and clinical and subclinical urogenital tract                    infections.
                • Management and husbandry training (on farm or by attending full day                    training programs carried out around the country).

      •  Productivity which is an indication of maximum production at least cost possible, requires an analysis of your individual production system which includes buildings type, equipment, micro-environment (physical space, air space, air quality and ventilation), hygiene, diet specifications/ water quality and pig genetics. All this is carried out in order to ensure that they are suited to achieve the best quality product for the market at a minimum possible cost.

      •  Productivity solutions also requires the review of past and present records of production in order to identify areas of strength or weakness within the production system and develop key performance indicators needed to achieve targets of production particularly in areas that make the real difference to unit performance such as farrowing rate, pigs born alive per litter, pre-weaning mortality, post-weaning mortality, growth rate, feed conversion and carcass quality.
